Earn a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification with Be Well

Are you a competent swimmer looking for a career in leisure, or just wanting to take your water confidence to the next level?

With one of our lifeguard courses, you’ll earn a recognised Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) National Pool Lifeguard Qualification that will leave you well equipped for your future ambitions.

Courses last five days, running from 8am-5pm each day. Our next course is:

  • 20, 21, 23 December 2024 & 2, 3 January 2025 at Howe Bridge Leisure Centre

What skills do I need to take a lifeguard course?

National standards and health and safety requirements mean you need to be at least 16 years old, be confident around the pool, and able to:

  • Jump/dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in 60 seconds or less
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on your front and back
  • Tread water for 30 seconds in deep water
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps (where the pool design safely permits).

What happens if I successfully complete the course?

This course leads to the National Pool Lifeguard Award, Automated External Defibrillator and Emergency First Aid in the work place certification.

How much does the course cost?

All our lifeguard courses cost £310 for the full five days.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please ensure you have a pen, paper and suitable poolside attire (shorts, t-shirt, swimwear and towel, and spare shorts and a t-shirt for swimming in). You should also bring lunch and refreshments each day.
