Helping you
quit for good

Make the best choice for you and your family with expert advice, guidance and support from our Be Well Stop Smoking Service.

Why should I stop smoking?

Stopping smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health, reducing your risk of heart attacks, cancer and other serious long-term conditions.

It also brings many immediate benefits such as a lower heart rate, and improved blood circulation and lung function.

By quitting you’ll be protecting those around you from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke and you’ll save money too!

How we can help you

While stopping smoking can be difficult and can sometimes take several attempts, you’re four times more likely to succeed with the right support – and our friendly, expert health advisors are here to help.

Everybody is different, which is why we offer a range of practical and convenient options to support you and your lifestyle:

  • Face-to-face appointments available 1-2-1
  • Group sessions so you can quit with a friend or family member(s)
  • In-person sessions at community venues across our local neighbourhoods
  • Telephone appointments
  • Video calls
  • Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)

Taking your first steps…

We’ll arrange a full initial consultation and work with you to agree a personalised plan based on your needs and circumstances.

To give yourself the best chance of stopping smoking for good, it’s best to try a combination of behavioural support alongside Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

There are a range of NRT products that can significantly increase your chances of quitting and help you manage withdrawal symptoms. These include a patch, gum, mouth or nasal spray, inhalator or lozenge, or a combination of these products.

NRT is offered to all smokers aged 12 and over as part of your plan of treatment.

Your health advisor will discuss with you which product(s) will be most suitable.

NRT products are dispensed at your local pharmacy when you present a nicotine voucher code, which will be provided to you when you sign up to quit with our service.

Those eligible for free prescriptions on the NHS can access NRT products free of charge.
