About Banner

Teaching healthy habits…

We offer fun, engaging workshops and varied educational programmes on a range of health and wellbeing topics – from physical and mental health, to sleep, nutrition and oral hygiene.

We’re committed to removing barriers and increasing opportunities for all children and their families to become more active and develop healthy habits that will set them up for life.

What we offer…

Be Great Education Programme

This six- or 12-week school-based programme supports children and young people to develop healthy habits and learn more about a range of health and wellbeing topics – including the benefits of physical activity, food types and nutrition, sleep, oral health, and mental wellbeing. Sessions are delivered during the school day for KS1-KS4, while we also support schools to upskill staff so they can continue to promote positive health messages long into the future.

Be Great Education Intervention Programme

This 12-week school-based programme supports children, young people and classes who have been identified through the NHS National Child Measuring Programme (NCMP), or directly through school. Sessions are delivered during the school day to help KS1-KS4 pupils develop healthy habits and learn more about a range of health and wellbeing topics – including the benefits of physical activity, food types and nutrition, sleep, oral health, and mental wellbeing. We also offer wrap-around support for families with our after-school clubs combining informative workshop sessions with fun physical activities and games.

Workshops

Our fun and interactive workshops support young people to learn more about important health and wellbeing topics. Each workshop last for 30 minutes and is delivered during the school day.

Sessions can also be adapted for parents to upskill their knowledge so they can support their children at home. Workshops are available for the following three topics:

Oral Health – What may cause poor oral health? Top tips for oral hygiene.

Lunchbox – Understanding the Eatwell guide. Identifying types of lunchboxes. Creating a varied, balanced meal.

Sleep – How many hours sleep do we need? The causes and effects of poor sleep – and how to combat them.

Early Years

Our supervised toothbrushing sessions support oral health across nursery and reception classes. We also work with Early Years settings to promote hand hygiene.

General schools support

We have specialist instructors within each of our neighbourhoods, providing a direct contact for schools to support their health and wellbeing needs. Your instructor can link you to our available support options and be your named contact for any health or physical activity needs of a child, young person or family.

School games partnership

We work with our School Games partners to help children and young people be more active, step outside their comfort zone and try new activities.

We deliver fun and engaging sessions for identified KS2 and KS3 pupils at various locations including our Be Well leisure centres, Haigh Woodland Park and Pennington Flash.
