Making informed choices

When it comes to your diet, even small, simple changes can make a real difference.

We have a range of downloadable resources covering a variety of nutrition-related topics to help you make the best choices for your health.

You can also find physical copies of these resources at your local Wigan Borough library – please speak to a member of the library team.

Meanwhile, the official NHS website has plenty of advice on achieving a healthy, balanced diet.

Need a little more support? We’ll help you achieve your goals!

If you’re aged 18+ and have a BMI (Body Mass Index) score of 25 or above, we can provide a fully-funded 12-week programme of support to help you to achieve a more healthy weight.

Our friendly, knowledgeable coaches can support you and your family to eat more healthily and become more active in a way that fits your lifestyle and routine.

We won’t tell you what to eat but will help you understand how food and drink (including alcohol) affects your health and how you can make informed choices for your health and wellbeing.

Finding what fits you…

We’ll get you started with a personal consultation to assess your circumstances and goals, followed by group workshops at leisure centres and other community facilities. Individual support is also available where necessary.

We also have a number of options to help you be more active, including access to our leisure centre facilities and activities such as touch rugby, football and Latin Dance.
